Virgin River Shear Zone – Excellent Host for an ‘Athabasca 2.0’ Deposit

The Virgin River Shear Zone is an excellent host for basement-hosted deposits.  Such deposit types require deep structures–the Virgin River Shear Zone hosts a massive structure, with geological similarities to the Uranium City area, Eagle Point system and the Arrow system.

Natural Uranium Enrichment in Basement Rocks

The basement rocks within the VRSZ area are naturally enriched with uranium compared with the basement rocks of the Western Wollaston domain, a regional trend that includes the McArthur River deposit and hosts over 2 billion lbs. U3O8.  For example, the rocks of the VRSZ area are ~3x more concentrated than those of the Western Wollaston domain; 15.1 to 18.1  ppm uranium vs. 3.2 to 6.0 ppm uranium background concentrations.
